Planning to go with friends, who know camping logistics, so I covered there. Wonder if it's feasible to take my AI there. It seems there is almost a mile portage on a dirt road to the dam - anybody done it, is it doable, how steep?

TIA!

It is more like 1/4 mile but it is steep. Two wheel drive vehicles can make it up but 4WD would make it more easily. You will need a good set of wheels and high traction shoes. I would recommend a lighter boat. I took a 13 foot Hobie Quest and back packing gear and that was about all the weight I would care to tote in and out.

I have AWD. It's 1/2 mile after unload , right? I was told at least kilometer, was told not too steep, but people have different understanding what steep is ;)

so, do you think it's doable with wheelez? Assembled AI, or I'll need several roundtrips? Thanks!

OK, from the gate it is between 1/4 and 1/3 mile. More that 100 lbs. would be to much for me. If there will be some one to help with the other end of the yak in the steepest sections that will help. Wheelez should be OK.
