I finally convinced my brother to go salmon fishing with me at the Cove and just like that he catches his first kayak salmon.

Nice, way to go! The salmon are feisty at the cove.

I almost broke a rib laughing at my brother trying to net his first feisty salmon.

Sorry if I missed something but, what "Cove" are you talking about?
Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn.

It was pretty comical my trying to manage the fish and the net. Terry kept telling me that the hardest part of the process was getting the salmon into the net and he was't kidding. I take my hat off to all of you sucessful salmon fishers!

The best tips I can give for netting fish. First use a net big enough to handle your quarry. Put a rubber band over the handle and pull any extra netting through it. (kinda looks like a lacrosse net)  It'll keep you from hanging up the net before you swoop on your fish, and when you do the weight of the fish will pull it out of the rubber band leaving your fish right in the middle of the net. Always lead your fish into your net so if he panics he just swims deeper into your net, and finally. Always pull the net back towards you once the fish is in the net thus closing the net around him so he can't flip out, not lifting straight up, and you don't stress the hoop. The rest is a snap... :smt002 Congrats Ron. First ones always the toughest...
