After all this I....Uhhh.....  I think I want a 3rd.

Being a dad is what keeps me alive. Not for them needing a dad, but for me needing to watch them grow.

Congrats to a whole new life worth living for!!!

Congratulations.

Like you my father was not a father. He spent most of my life in prison for something stupid. The one thing he did do when he was free was take me fishing. I can honestly say the only good thing I got from my father was a love of fishing.

Not one of my 3 kids fish or have any desire to fish. What we did find is I took an interest in their hobbies. Being a dad I coached Baseball, Wrestling and Football. I got to teach my kids landnav (helped the oldest son in basic training) and cover concealment tactics with paintball and hunting (my youngest son decided he never wanted to hunt again after taking a 14 point buck his first time out).

I would find out if something important was going on a given day; If it was not real important (I didn't need to be there) I'd go fishing or hunting during season. The times my kids had something important going on I didn't miss my time fishing, because I was happily spending time with the most important people in my life.

My point is don't worry about fishing time; if you want to go you'll figure it out. You're life just changed. Enjoy it. Fatherhood is amazing.

After 48hrs in the NICU all of his tests came back favorably so we got to take him home.

Mama was very tired, so I let her sleep for a couple hours so her motrin could kick in and she could feel better.

I fed him, put him down, and changed his diaper with no trouble. The nicu nurses were great and really showed me how to do everything like bathe him, burp him, swaddle him and take his temperature properly.

They loved us, as we took care of him conpletely pretty much. We would come down every 1-2.5hrs so mom could feed him. We did that for 48 hours.

He seems to be sleeping a bit longer now between feedings - 3hrs or so now. More sleep for us!

I'd like to continue updating this incase it helps another guy in the future.

Super cute for a newborn, congratulations..........honestly, I think there are a couple rounds of fishing in the first 3-4 months.  They're cute and all but they don't do much.  Be well... :smt006
“I’m going fishing.”  They said, “we will go with you.”

Super cute for a newborn...

I'll say. Both of my boys looked like wrinkled prunes at that age...

Consider yourself lucky. Some folks get only 2 hours max.  :smt044

Be there. I too had sons 33 and 35 years ago. They are now my best friends because of what i just said. Be there. It will pay unknown dividends. Fishing will be there. Kayaking will be there. Like you, I too counted my best hobbies and past-times as kayaking and fishing...until my two best friends came along. I never thought I'd enjoy being and dad until I came became one. I wish the same for you. Be there.

I know it's a little late, but congrats!  Cute guy!  5 hours?  Wow .... you have it easy  :smt001   See, he's already helping out the family  :smt002

Now you can ask yourself again, which is first, the kid or fishing (or sleep)  :smt005
