Hey guys

Getting ready to go camping and try out my used hobie outback for the first time over at spring lake.

http://parks.sonomacounty.ca.gov/Get_Outdoors/Parks/Spring_Lake_Regional_Park.aspx

I am still new at this. I may be getting accustomed to the yak first

any tips for fishing spring lake?

There are some BIG bass in Spring Lake. Some folks have good luck tossing BiG swimbaits at them.

It's been a LONG time since I fished spring lake, but it's actually where I made my first casts as a youngster some 28 years ago (was that really 28 years ago?!?!?).... Spring lake can get really choked up with weeds, so the Mirage Drive might be a PITA.  But you don't know unless you go!

I get over there a few times a year since it is 10 min from my house. I like to work the western bank  with the usual bass stuff. A few years ago I picked up a 4-5 pounder on a purple worm. A friend was having good luck last year with nite crawlers. I think the weeds are shouldn't be a problem now and yes there are some big bass in there!
Have fun!

I was there last week and the weeds are manageable as long as you avoid the really shallow stuff on the north end of the lake. I was using a dark colored creature bait tossed into cover and did ok on smaller sized bass.

its a neat little lake to paddle around. There are bass, sunfish, crappie, and catfish to catch. It's really popular with joggers and dog walkers so the people watching can be really good if the fishing isn't.

Thanks for the tips guys!!! I didn't really get to fish much. I was trying to get use to the kayak. Plus my I gave my daughter a ride.
I was able set up Texas rig and tried it out for 20 minutes no luck.

There was a old guy with this little pontoon bought that you sit in while your legs are in the water to propel the bought. He caught 14 fish

Anyways at least I was able to load the yak on the truck with camping gear and launch yak.
For the first time
