Yesterday I get a text from the GF saying "hey lets go kayaking" I checked the tides and they were perfect so I get home start loading up... Go into the shed where all my fishing/kayaking accessories are and noticed the auto sensing light was on (strange) didn't care because I was going fishing. I start working on the work bench to get my plastics ready, and fishing hardware - turn around to grab my poles/mirage drive/PFD and hard baits and find this.

That my friend is a 12ft Burmese Python. It belongs to my GF's brother.

Needless to say I still was able to get all of my gear ready but plans fell short because the GF couldn't find the keys to the barn where her kayak is being stored.

I guess I'll be going tonight maybe.

PS: I called the brother tell him his anaconda got out of her cage and asked if I could get her back in the box (didn't need her knocking anything else over) he said it wasn't a good idea she hasn't eating in a while and her next feeding was this weekend.

Hello no to that.  I was expecting you were going to say all your gear was stolen so I guess that was better.

To think when he got her she was only 12 inches long now at 12 feet if she wanted she could easily break through her cage. She is pretty tame, and lucky for me I have been giving her water and making sure she sees me when I come by. She didn't get aggressive until I covered her with a towel at that point she coiled up and got into strike position. That's when I blocked her off and continued to finish gathering things with one eye on her.

@MontanaN8V yellow books would be truly unique!

at least she was easy to find...  when we lost our 7ft red tail boa, we couldn't find her anywhere.  i even let my neighbors know (they all freaked out).  she ended up climbing up to the rafters and hid in the storage area.

one time we lost our corn snake for months.  i saw her pop her heard out from an opening in the garage wall.  held my hand out, and she came right out.  she was skinny and hungry!

Burmese pythons are like the Labradors of snakes. Pick that puppy up and put it away. If it nails you the worst that will happen is it won't have a choice but to come with you lol.

I love Burmese pythons. My friend has a 21 footer, I like to chill with it.

Post brings back memories! Used to own one precisely that size, fun pet except for the business of feeding. Mine was nice and tame too, as long as they know your coming, they usually handle pretty well. I used to take mine to a friends kindergarten class every once in a while, the kids loved him

When I was a kid a wild 3 ft. gopher snake that I caught and had for a pet got loose and I never was able to find him.

Several years later I was walking down the street and saw a group of people surrounding the entrance of the Victorian I grew up in. So I went over to see what all the commotion was about.  There were a few men wielding rakes, sticks and brooms with women and children hiding behind them.

They were all frighten over a "poisonous" snake that was in the living room of the down stairs flat/apartment.  :smt044 :smt044

Pretty sure of myself I told everyone to step aside and as the crowd parted saw my now 5' foot gopher snake coiled in the corner. I quickly and carefully snatched him up and walked out of the house.

The crowd was in awe as I departed without uttering a word. The snake was then released back to the original area he was captured...true story  :smt003
