The weekend

Hope everyone who can get out on the water this weekend does. Good luck on the fishes.
I am sitting in the airport waiting for my flight to Kansas City. I am going hunting for Snow Geese this weekend. Hope to bring home a mess of them.

How do you cook them?  I have never had a good Snow.  In fact was at Delevan (Sacto Area) in Jan. and had them all over the place.  But, thought is was a waste of shells.  Whitefronts were closed and they was no Cands in sight.

Well, to tell you the truth, I am hoping to have enough to try recipes until I find one I like....lol. I have never shot a snow before. I had some for dinner at a friends house years ago and it was good. These guys are flying from rice field to oat field to bean field so it isn't that they have a bad diet.
We will see. Might have to have a norcalkayak wild game fiest.

I am baaaaaaack! Man, what a great trip. For any of you guys who also hunt waterfowl, you have to think about doing one of these trips next year. In 3 days, 5 of us shot over 150 geese. And a lot of the time, it was only the other four shooting because I did a lot of filming. It is absolutely awesome to see so many birds in the air. People who have seen this call it the white tornado. Here is just one example

What's the bag limit out there?

No limit. No plug in the gun. It is a depredation hunt that has been going on for the last 3 or 4 springs. The Snow goose population has exploded and they are destroying their nesting grounds. So, many of the midwest states have this spring conservation action. It is take as many as your shoulder will hold up for.

We are going to be booking next year's hunt shortly. Just have not agreed on dates as of yet.

Just for reference, this year it was $160.00 per day. The conservation permit is $6.00. I had a two bed room at the Comfort Inn and it cost $247.00 for four nights.

This might be a silly question, but it's coming from someone who has never hunted before...where do you keep all of the geese while you're there?  Is the trip guided and the guide provides storage?
