Hello NCKA!

I signed up for the site years ago and i'm about to make my first Yak purchase...

I lived in a 1 bedroom apartment when the idea of kayak fishing infected me...Now that i own a house and have a place to store one, i'm chomping at the bit!

I grew up taking garage sale rafts out on local creeks and lakes in the Sacramento/ Elk Grove area, so i've gotten a taste of what i imagine kayak angling is all about :)

I look forward to learning/searching the forums and hooking up or running into some of you guys/gals out on the water!

Sounds like a good time to finally get a kayak.

Got me a entry level kayak this weekend.

Headed straight for lodi lake and got a few miles of paddling in. Brought a pole, but didn't fish much. Ended up catching a sunburn on my white legs and a few good pictures.

Just finished rigging up a hoist in the garage and the yak is sitting pretty in between the rafters.

Thinking about hitting CRP next weekend.

Can't wait!

Yes, welcome. I'm down near Miller Park. And retired... Holler if you want to hookup in the area.

Thanks for the warm welcomes!

Definitely going to hook up with some of you guys on the water and learn a few things.

I was a little worried about the heat trapped @ the top of the garage...it's on its side and strapped about 2' from the ends (10' yak).

Think it will be alright?

I peeled my shirt off during the hoist install and in the end, had dirty, Dusty Brown sweat drops all over the garage...it was like being in a sauna!

Taking some flatbed strapping home from work today (about 6" wide). Going to put some grommets in the ends so I can hook into it.

It should give it more support than my improvised 1" pull straps.

Pics when I get home ;)

That oughta do it. Those straps could probably support the Queen Mary if you got it into the garage. And yeah, 4-6' apart sounds about right. Of course, here in Sactown, you could just find the thing in a puddle on the floor some years.  :smt044

Bahwahahahaa... Sonny.  You Fonny.     :smt044 :smt044

I just drove down the length of I-5  looks like a ton of great launch spots up along the Sac river.    Would be a great adventure to launch and drift  for a few days camping / fishing.    Have someone pick up at a  predesignated spot.

Didn't finish adding the new straps...I got sidetracked.

Now I'm thinking about adding grommets to a moving blanket and trying the sling thing, lol.
