For those of you that have read a few of my posts already, you know I live in Texas.  For the past three years I have run a free event in Texas to help the new people that have never kayak fished offshore, to show them the ropes and help make them better fishermen.  Each year my event has become larger.  Over the entire weekend I ran this event recently, I believe I have had around 100 kayakers show up.  All these kayak fishermen ranged anywhere in skill from beginner all the way to advanced.  All fishermen made it out to the 1 mile standpipe and a select few of us made it on out to the 7 mile rigs.

The reason for posting is if any of you California kayak fishermen want to head to Texas to fish offshore ever or even if you are doing the Extreme Kayak Fishing Tournament on September 24th in Corpus Christi, Texas and have questions, please don't hesitate to give me a shout out.  832-588-7091  I will be happy to help out and answer any questions you might have (there are no secret spots in the Gulf of Mexico.  It all fishes the same, lol.).

If you would like to read my recent report, here is the link for you to check out....

I was born in Freeport, and grew up between there and Houston, mostly wade fishing the bays from Galveston down to POC. I just started with kayaks recently here in CA, and I've been looking at some of the Corpus Christi offshore vids on youtube lately. I'd definitely be down to hit those rigs from a kayak someday if I'm ever down there with access to a kayak. I bet a big smoker king or AJ from a kayak would be a trip.

revrat.... If you do decide to come over to Texas again, hit me up.  As far as for the kayak thing, there are rental options.  Give me a shout out if that is an option and you know you are planning a trip and I will be happy to put you on to some rental places.

I am here in North Texas and loved the pictures of those "Kroger Tuna." I need to get down the coast some day.

Hit me up if you ever make it over here and I will be happy to run out to the rigs with ya.  Rigs = structure, structure = snapper, snapper = good eating!   :smt001

Same offer applies, splashdown.  Hit me up if you make it out this way.  I'm always heading out to the rigs among other places.  On August 27th, I've put together a group of 10 people (including myself).  This group will make a run 8 miles out into the Gulf of Mexico to a reef.  We are going to hit that reef hard and see what we can get into.  By the time we make it back, we should have done around 18 - 20 miles (after you include going off course due to bringing in fish, winds, and current).  It's going to be an epic trip (but then again, aren't they all epic?  lol).

I plan on being down in Corpus last week of September, I really want to fish Laguna Madre but a rig trip sounds inviting too! wish I could take my Revo with me
