I'm looking for a reasonably priced commuter car in good shape. 2400 miles a month on my truck is getting old!

Been there...  Got a Prius.

2011 Hobie Outback - bye bye
1997 Tracker 17 Deep V<--- Money Pit

When you look outside the window, and all you see is fishing. True Story.

Look for a used Corolla. I was in the same situation as you. I drive 75miles to work one way. Hopefully I can find work here in Fairfield. Prius are too overpriced and too cramped. I picked up a 06 Corolla and it doubles as my fishing vehicle at times. I get around 30 mpg which isn't so bad.

Scott V has a Yaris that he loves, I'm a big fan of the Corolla because I've had 3.
honestly tho, right now I drive a company truck during the week and a tundra on the weekends and Amy just traded a camry for a 4-Runner, so I have no room to talk...
If i were looking I would probably get a Vibe, because its a rebadged corolla/matrix and tends to cost less used because of the pontiac badge, and the big hatch is sweet for fishing crap :)
Less Mental than before, Still savage AF tho <3

I have 2 cars that might suit your needs and I'm currently looking to sell one (not sure which one yet).

2007 Toyota Matrix XR
2006 Kia Spectra5 (would sell for significantly less than the Matrix)

If you're interested feel free to let me know and I can pass on some details/photos.
