I'm looking to finally get my maiden voyage in my Thresher taken care of. I'm itching to get out. I'm experienced in float tubes, pontoons and power boats, but this will be my cherry breaking trip in a kayak. I've got all my safety gear, all my fishing gear, and my best attitude lined up and ready to go. Who wants to go and help a virgin out? Or at least laugh with me when I f**k up?

I'm open to anywhere, but am thinking Tomales Bay? Maybe Ft Ross or somewhere up that way if the ocean is nice?

What I'm really looking for is safety in numbers, so I guess I'm more or less asking if anyone is going anywhere in Sonoma/Marin coast area Monday the 25th that wouldn't mind a newb tagging along.

I'm tired of looking at this brand new boat that's been sitting in the garage without any blood or scratches on it.

Never been there and want to join. It looks like it's pretty protected and easy lunch.   What is the target and where to go (if I'm late). How much is the parking? Thanks!

Halibut, or if something goes weird a stray white sea bass.  Fee is 5 dollars, towards the island for bait on sabiki, some try for bait at the weather buoy to the south, left of the island, than just past the island to the south for the drift, ch 69  :smt006 hope to meetcha

Killer.

I'm stoked to go.

Eddie, is bait generally easily available there, or should I bring some tray bait too, just in case?

I feel good with some tray bait, but if it thaws and I don't take care of it, it gets wasted.  So far I've caught bait every time on  :smt006shrimp tipped sabiki but there is always that chance that hustling up bait is a chore. I worry if I brought enough shrimp for sabiki and I always have some extra.  I bring 3 Costco frozen prawns. Don't tell my wife, actually, tiny calamari pieces are ideal because the fish cannot get it off the hook.  Bottom line, gonna bring a tray of frozen herring I caught, 3 prawns, and some calamari pieces.  If we get into the bait, there is plenty :smt006

My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

Never having had targeted halibut before, what size of hooks should I be tying up on my trap rigs? I'm assuming a 1/0 or 2/0 octopus on the front, and  #2 or #4 treble in the back? I would think 25 pound leader should be sufficient?
