I'm going to camp at Donner lake this Sunday till Thursday. I know the location to troll but does anyone have tips on set ups without a down rigger for Kokanee?  What weight, flasher and lure I should use. Jigging options as well?

I'll be going to south tahoe after for kokes too. Probably camp Richardson.  Same set up?

Anyone going to be in these areas in the next few weeks?

You need to find them first, then figure out how to get to them depending on depth. If you want to troll without a downrigger you can try a small deep 6, or a 3 way with weight dropper. Probably still real deep right now is my guess. I do not know those two fisheries well in the summer, fall is a different story.

I've only fished Tahoe once and it was a unique experience. The lake is obviously huge and deep which made fishing a bit tough from a kayak. I would ask around for specific places you should fish since a day could be taken up by just paddling.

I started the day out chasing trout but the wind and boat traffic became too much so I headed towards the Keys.  The keys was fun place to fish.  Caught a ton of bass and bluegill on various techniques.
My ride --> 2016 Ascend FS12T
My upgrades: 3 handles, paddle strap, anchor trolly with a retractable tether, Lowrance Hook-4, transducer mounted in the hull, battery pack, elevated seat and second hatch installed under the seat.

Future Upgrades:  Lights (with exterior switches), usb charger, amp meter and flag.

I know where to go and have seen the fish. Tahoe I go from the Richmond camp area a little towards emerald bay. 200 feet minimum. I just have trouble trolling a deep line without a down rigger and thought someone may have a suggestion for me for getting the line deep and what lure/flasher to use. Also what recommendations for jigging. Im strictly after kokes. I made a down rigger from an old ugly stick. Basically cut off at the first eye. It works but has a lot of drag (especially after 100' ) and I don't have a mirage. Great workout but a bit of a pain. Knowing a jigging set up would be a great break from trolling when I see the fish. Anyone have Koke jigging set up recommendations?
