Yeah, if you're going to paddle 10  miles offshore to fish near a whale carcass, then a shark-shield might be a good idea.

I use mine all the time.  It doesn't deter the RF and Ling bite.

Or seals.  Wish it zapped the seals when I was diving.

Sounded like the same area Mel got hit at...or close to it.  They got a tooth fragment both times.  Be interesting to see if it was the same shark.

Sounds like he was a research boat so I would guess they have fed the sharks in the past and the Sharks know the boat and engine sounds.  They came for their free meal and didn't get it so they targeted the boat.  That's why it should be illegal to feed sharks.  They see boats as a free meal.

1/4 mile

I was referring to my own experience out there last year :smt002 We had one breach right next to us, maybe a 10+ft fish.
it is a sharky area at times

That shark must have been HON-GRAY!
did they confiscate the boat until further investigations were made.......like they did Mel and his kayak?

Good to read no blood was shed.

more dangerous driving to the fishing grounds than the fishing grounds itself.

Yes, but does the shark know that?
