No problem brother I'm glad I helped anytime.
Thanks for the advice I'm gonna have to get a reel for the gun then since I'm hoping to shoot my first Hali sometime soon! Looking forward to you future reports and videos keeps me motivated to get out there god bless brother thanks again!
Bro awesome job! Those things are massive!  I gotta get out there again and try to get one of those! Good job dude thanks for sharing! Quick question though do you think I would need a reel for my 75 or would a 30 foot float line be enough? Don't want to rip a shaft out of the fish and definitely don't want to lose my gun. Thanks bro congrats again  :smt006

Thanks Andres, and thanks again for the inspiration and advice back in May!!   :smt008

Hope you get a big one dude!!

I have heard they don't like floatlines...dunno if true or not...I love having the reel on my 75 and it has worked great and haven't felt like I was gonna lose my gun even on rough days...I would say get a reel and leave the floatline at home for these guys.

Sincerely,

Jim

Love the pic of the fish and your daughter.
She's already chock-full of memories. I bet she never forgets that pic.
I have to hand it to you for even seeing those beasts much less making a marksman of a shot on 'em.
GREAT JOB!!!!!!!!!

You're a surf striper spearfishing pioneer now, dude! Makes me wonder how often 30lb bass anonymously cruise the surf...and we'd never know it. The surf bite for 5-10lb fish in Mbay has been pretty consistent for the past few years.

Thanks for all the kind words fellas!!

As most of you guys know this really has been a journey for me...

I started trying in 2013 when they first became legal...

2013, 2014 and 2015 went by with plenty of skunks and sessions of getting pummeled in surf, trying night diving, trying different spots all over SC and Monterey counties, and bringing home empty cooler after empty cooler...  :smt010

These last few months have been different and I am loving it....still not sure if I am doing it the "right way" or the "best way" but it seems to be working for me.  :smt007

Makes me wonder how often 30lb bass anonymously cruise the surf...and we'd never know it.

I know right?!

If I stumbled across two ~30lbers in two consecutive weekends, it could mean there are a LOT more out there...or I just got lucky like the blind squirrel finding the nut.  :smt003

Sincerely,

Jim

Those are beautiful fish man! What a way to start the day! (And even a dive getting skunked isn't a bad start). Chock full of sand crabs too so you know they're coming right in under the whitewater! Great job!
