I have A very smart and healthy black lab / German short hair of 7 years old,he loves birds, guns, fish and sticks, and is looking for  A hot dog with the same  hobby's.
this is sort of A weird post, but I would like A new pup and I thought it would cool to have the same strain of  dog till I am old. I can send pics . thanks for your time, Sunny

Sounds like you've got the perfect dog if he'll point upland birds, sit still in a blind, and retrieve waterfowl.

I have a small female shorthair, but unfortunately she's fixed.  She's, by far, the best dog I've ever had, and it'll be a sad day when she goes... so I know how you feel about trying to find a similar dog to the one you've got now.

I've come to the realization that I probably won't ever find a dog with the exact same qualities.  But, I am confident that I'll be able to choose another good pup and train it to be a one-of-a-kind winner.

the short hair in him stands out more than the Lab in the field,he hates to sit still  but loves the water.get him in the field and its on .I am with you ChuckE,I too know I could train dam near any mut in to A fine dog,but I still think it would be something neat to have your first dogs grand pups.
I also now know that every dog from here on will have to live up to thunder dog the wonder dog.
I forgot to mention in my first post that while he loves to go fishing,he Disapproves  of my kayak :smt011.he knows if it comes out of the garage he wont be going.
