Great day, almost flat and not hot. Huge macs. 2 lings (1 barely undersized and 1 one barely legal) -  did not take any. No problem with bait when I needed it.
At about 1pm "police" ("police" is actually written on a boat, have not noticed before) came checking licenses and stuff - seems they've issued citation to pb next to me.

Thanks for the report. I will give it a try tomorrow. I'm about the load the car and I should launch for dock F (or A) by 6ish. I will be on Ch69...

For me, the bait was scattered, and I ended up with maybe 8 Spanish mackerel, 4 mackerel (including one jumbo), and just one lonely sardine. I mosied out to about 65 FOW well east of the mile buoy and then slowly worked my way back in further east. I got several lingcod, maybe 4 of which were keeper-sized (nothing big) and several rockfish, all released. No sign of halibut---did see a good-sized ocean sunfish (maybe 6' in diameter). I was back in the harbor by 11:00, as I had to go to lunch with the family. Probably, the halibut were biting later... Btw, it was a surprisingly turbulent coming back into the harbor.

Here's a short video. Unfortunately, the water spot on the lens makes the mola mola hard to see, but it was doing its best shark imitation.

Thanks for the video, NowhereMan. Its been a while since i fished out there. Glad to see theres still some action going on!

Does anyone launch from the beach by SC wharf? Thinking of going north past the lighthouse and would save a lot of paddling.

Looks like my report didn't get posted, so try 2...

Launched from Dock A around 6AM as planned. Did my usual loop and caught 4 lingcods (kept 2, released 2 with 1 under size) and a few RFs (only kept an olive that I had for lunch.

A lot of baits, boats and quite a few kayaks. Not sure if my radio worked as I didn't hear any chatter and even tries a call a couple of times without answer...

Once again not love from the halibuts but a seal got very friendly and got very close to me. I guess he smelt the fishes. I had to gently push it with my paddle

Back at the harbor around 10AM and done with cleaning, eating and everything before one. Now it is time for a little sista...

Happy Independence Day everyone!!!

I haven't launched there, but it's been done.

If you have someone to help you carry your kayak down the stairs, you might consider Mitchell's Cove. In addition to the stairs issue, you also need to be careful that the beach doesn't disappear at high tide...

sweet haul Frenchie.   How was the wind after 10am?  We fished Carmel and the wind came up pretty hard after 1030-11.

@NowhereMan I haven't launched outta Mitchell's since I lived in SC about 16 years ago.  I used to take my housemate's Necky out and paddle out to Natty B's.  Gotta pickup my Eddyline Carribean 12, weighs  45lbs!!  Shouldn't be too hard to shoulder that thing down the stairs!!!

Two Calico's !         Hell, I didn't even know they get this far up north.      One nice size Vermillion.     finally around 12;30 - 1;00  hooked  and landed a nice size Ling 26 -28" category..  Big enough there's no doubt about it being legal.     I pulled it onto my lap, where it refused to cooperate when I tried to slide the game clip up it's gills.    Spit the hook and dashed back into the water in a split second... Guessing it didn't want to accept my dinner invitation.
Sonny scored a nice catch too...      Great day on the water.  very little wind. slow drift.  Love days like that :smt007.
