cant say on the camping or current bite....but it is the 4th weekend and it will be packed...it has rained a little last couple of days up there and today there are HUGE thunder heads n clouds up there for about a 50mi stretch of the central Sierras that I can see from home. Im going to Shaver, staying at Camp Edison 1-2-3-coming home on the 4th. Fireworks on the 3rd at Shaver. Im not taking yak due to surgery and unable to lift any weight yet. Will probly shore fish a little for trout.

Thanks for the reply Mike. Really enjoy that Reservoir. Still just a pipe dream, but hope to make it. Hopefully at least a day trip. Almost made reservations at Dorabelle. Think that's how its spelled.  :smt001.

Caught plenty of trout there, but never any Browns.

Hey Alex. I was up at Courtright last weekend on Sat. Trapper Springs Campground was closed due to removing of trees. The first come first serve at Marmot was open however it was packed!! People were camping in the no camping area along the road back to Trapper. There are camping spot behind the dam going toward the hiking staging area. No lake view since its behind the granite rock. Its free camping however.

If you have a high clearance suv/truck, you could make it back to Voyager Rock campground. Its the start of the dusy ershim trail. Its a fun trail. A lot of campsite back there and FREE. Less people too. I camped there 3 time last year.

Another option is there are camping spot going into courtright. I always see people pull off to the side and camp. Maybe those are dispersed camping?

The water level is up compare to last year. It good to see. I like the water level last year since there were a lot of shore access and you could drive down. Bring bug spray. The vampire bug were out in full force!! I heard morning and dust were bad. The fishing wasn't too bad. I caught 7 for 3 hrs of fishing on an orange nymph with poweregg to float it. Kastmaster were working as well.

If I wasn't camping at big sur, I would have gone to voyager rock. good luck and have fun :) thats the place to be when the valley is hot.

by the way, good to see you posting again mikeinfresno. Hope your recovery is going good. :)

Thanks for the Intel and the heads up on the bugs. Will dress accordingly. Unless I decide to stay local and try for the hali's. I have brought my 15 foot aluminum to my house and returned to storage each time with no success in getting out. ( 3 weeks in a row ) I am off this Friday till next wed. Hopefully I will have a good report soon.  :smt001

I was there several years ago while on a jeep run for the Dusy.  We fished Courtright the evening before our run and did very well with just about any color of small spinner while fishing from shore.  It's a beautiful area, enjoy your trip.

Thanks for the reply.  :smt006 Took a little more time checking out the scenery and camping areas on the way up. Beginning from dinkey creek rd. Great places to camp along the way and even the road into  courtright had a few prime spots on the way in. Fishing was good for me. Just slow trolled crawlers with flashers. Kept only 2 for a friend to take home. All fish were small planters. Was a good time. Good ta get out of the city for a bit of scenery change. Fishing in the Monterey bay can be boring after a while. :smt002  .

Oh yes there were some skeeters as well. Glad I brought the bug spray. Thanks Crazyfisher !

The best part was hanging out with my Dad who is 73 yrs young !
