I have not had the pleasure of meeting Ranger Garcia...but we had an unpleasant experience with a mean ranger at Limekiln yesterday. Actually, it was MByakker who encountered him and said he thinks it was probably the aforementioned ranger. He was mean and surly to him so it may have been Ranger Garthia. I only dealt with the woman ranger and she was very nice.
Limekiln was gnarly on Saturday but launchable through 3-4 ft breakers on Sunday. We saw two guys in a zodiac launch on Sunday.
I would suggest Mill Creek as Plan A then Limekiln as Plan B. Especially if you aren't camping at Limekiln...there are only 6 day use spots and they strictly enforce the "2 cars per campsite rule." Mill Ck was mellow with plenty of parking and very nice, knowledgeable surfers (surprising...although I knew one of the guys from college so maybe thats why they were cool).

Kirk Creek had a bunch of empty sites on Friday and Sat night.

Looks like we'll be shut out of the ocean this weekend.  15-25kt winds and 8-10ft swells does not for a good fishing trip make.

I think I'm still in, planning on going down on thurs night with the girlfriend. So if I can't make the surf, we'll just have a nice camping trip. Going to be staying at kirk creek.  and launching at Mill creek

I guess I am out for this weekend.  Should the weather die down, maybe go somewhere closer to home.  I canceled my reservation for Friday night btw, if anyone wants to get in and reserve it.  Unfortunately reserveamerica.com keeps the transaction fee's, so for 27.50, only getting back 13 bucks.  What a rip!

Well if conditions are really that bad on the weekend, I will probably stick closer to home but if it looks like it will be decent, I will drive down early Sat. AM and join you for the day.  It sounds like Mill Creek will be favored.  Sin Coast, I did not see a report from your trip last week.  Did you get out?  Any fish?

Put the EPIC back in your weekend, boys, I say it'll be flat!  National Weather Service is flip-flopping big time on this weekend's forecast.  Yesterday they called for 8-10' swells Friday and Saturday, then their afternoon forecast said 4-6'...  Now they're back up at 8-10'...  This other page is showing some of the flattest water in months!  It doesn't show how the wind may be, but the ground swell itself is very likely going to be extremely low this weekend all up and down the coast.  GO FOR IT!   :smt003

That's why I sleep in my van in a pullout instead of reserving campsites, it saves 30 bucks and I don't have to reserve a pull-out before the weather forecast is in.

I'm still going.  Good or Bad forecasts, it don't matter.  I'll be at the kiln friday night, no matter what, might even bring some mexican cerveza for the kayak racist ranger.:smt002  I'll be camped in the beach area.

JTF will you launch at Lime or Mill Creek?  Since you have the beach spot it would be a shame to have to drive to launch?  I have just over an hour drive there from my house and will be happy to join you either way.  What will you launch after camping Friday night?  Limekiln is my favorite (my most common) place to crash and burn and launches and landings.  I will probably park on the highway and cart my boat down before the gates open.

Thanks John.  I will likely leave my wheels there.  Not so likely I will be there by 1st light but more likely 7 or so.

PK,  Baby showers are for girls  :smt005 .
