Yes size 14. Anytime I use larger I end up catching lots of very large jacksmelt and very few bait sized baits.

Yea, we had a nice day OTW
But never got the Butt Dance. When the tide turned it was like a lake out there.
John was great to fish with, lots of info and stories.
Halibut fishing , I find to be a little frustrating... my 3rd skunk@ Tomalas
I feel I get more adrenalin flowing with rock fishing, but still would like to land a flattie!

Great report. Thank you for the write up. I am very new to fishing with bait and am learning my baitfish I'd. Is the first(top) one in your pick a sardine, then Mackrell and jack smelt?. Last weekend I caught Mackrell and the other ones with the yellow cheeks.
We fished the yellow can area also for nothing last weekend. Is white gulch the cove with the white cliffs on the northern end? I'm still trying to learn the area. Glad you guys had a good time and that the wind laid down for you

Thanks for all the reports.  I ended up in the Sierras kokanee fishing....anything to get out of the valley heat.  I/NOAA sure missed the call on the winds.  Too bad the butts didn't cooperate.  Well I'll try again a little later and maybe the butts will be more receptive.  Last year a group of us gathered there in September and Naoaki ended the day with 2!  Thanks again for all the responses.
