My point and shoot camera died and I got a Go Pro Hero 3+. I figured how to take pics and videos. I loaded the Go Pro App on my iPhone and have the two communicating.

How do I fast forward the video and cut the images I want?

Does anyone know of a better instruction source than the manual that comes with camera?

Thanks

Doug

I usually download my raw footage to my computer and then pull images with my video editor program.  I use Adobe Premiere.  You can do the same with GoPro's editor program but I've never done it from the phone itself.

Thanks for the tips.  I will try both.

I use the go pro software that came with the camera.  When I plug the camera into my computer it automatically downloads all the media then I sift through the clips and and edit what I want to use.  It even does the all the converting for you.  All in one program.  Pretty good for free, well not really free, I bought the camera.

Here is one of my videos that I used the go pro software for.  This me trying out my new sailing kit and some others with real sailboats showing me how it's done.

Hi Doug,

In some cases I have used my phone to take still images what you need to do is:

1) Transfer the video file in the highest quality to your phone.

2) play the video then immediately press pause, this will give you a slider button to fast-forward or reverse.

3) once you get to the still you want take a screen shot on your phone (I use an iPhone so it's "home button + power button").

4) I edit the screen capture and crop unwanted things, adjust colors and depth.

And that's all! I don't use an android/windows phone so instructions may vary.

I hope that helps.

Sorry, I misunderstood.  I thought you wanted help with the software for pulling videos not still shots.  My bad...

I've only pulled one still shot from a video before and I did it on my PC using windows snipping tool.  Run the video, pause it on the shot I want and snip.  Easy Peasy.  I'm sure there are better ways that will produce better results but that is what I had at the moment.

Most players will let you pause and hitting the right and left arrows will go through frame by frame. Find what you want and use one of those options.

Holding the phone sideways, drag your finger through the video timeline in the app.

To pull a screen shot, once you have the video paused, tap the photo icon at the bottom of the screen and you can sort through the images and save them to your phone.
