I might try this. never been. I think they got a plant this week.

that is it sky.

it is deep, it doesn't get real muddy after rains is my understanding.

it was planted this week with trout.

ken kickfish and raymac fish it pretty regularly.

I'm not sure, but I might feel a little claustrophobic there, I think it has
a lot of bank fishermen etc.

also, I am allergic to paying money to paddle or fish, and I think you must
do so there.

but it would be nice to put a trout in the smoker.

Yeah, it's almost litterally in my back yard but I've never tried it because I also think fishing should be free.

Catching domesticated fish is also a little anathema too.

Actually,

Most plants happen on Thurs.  Even if the website says tues.  I talked to one of the rangers there.  So most of the days they plant are Wed, Thurs and Fri.  They got 750 lbs.  from Lassen.  Mainly, 3 to 5 lbs. with some up to 10 lbs.

Also, there is a swim area you can anchor near to get a way from the shore guys.  You can troll the middle of the horseshoe to get trout.  Near the swim area and the bank on that side. Troll needlefish or rainbow runners.  Something small becuase the bait fish are that size.

Also, can anchor on the other side of the horseshoe and be out in the middle at 20 to 30 ft. I would troll in 20 to 30ft and be down 10 to 18 ft.

Watch out for the shore guys.  Some guys used 12 to 15 ft poles to get there lines a way from the shore.

Pretty sure Loch Lomond isn't open yet.  I think the opener is March 1 - next Thursday.

The last plant was last Tuesday at noon o'clock.Talked to the person at the gate that date. It would be a good place to check out your downrigger and dept finder.At what i call high tide(full) it is 90+ft at the deepest spot.Never gets real rough when the wind blows.I am a troller and even though the lake is compact it can be challenging.A depth finded is a necessity. The lake starts deep at the launch 70+ft down the middle of big pond. As you leave the deepest area to the right of the launch ramp and head into the horse shoe curve 50+ft  to your right there is a sloping ledge 0 to 20+ft where the bait fishers are. As you enter the top of the horse shoe the bottom will rise to20+ft down the middle.Watch out for christmas trees on left.Stay down middle.Bait fishers on your left.The rest of the lake is to your left. Most productive area trolling is serface to 16ft.1st deep area and top of horse shoe.They plant in the far left area out from the launch ramp.There are small and large mouth C&R,catfish planted in summer with hold overs Carp, and i once hooked a sucker fish about 24in long.Did C/R put up a good fight. and they plant trout every 2 weeks year round. Being there are no hiding places the fish count can go down pretty quick.Put and take.Good luck

The down side to Quarry Lakes is they  are so dinky it is hardly worth unloading you kayak.  You can practically skip a rock to the opposite shoreline.

But the GOOD news is they just planted the lakes on Tuesday, so the fish don't have lots of places to hide!
