Fish Flogger, sounds like rock crab is open in Santa Cruz. With that in mind what is the easiest kayak launch in Santa Cruz and where are good areas to crab. Dungeness crab are great but I love rock crab too.

I launch out of the SC harbor. Super easy. I haven't done a lot of experimenting but I've had decent luck around The Lane and around the scattered reefs along west cliff between The Land and Natural Bridges. Look for rocks on the bottom and you should do OK. I've also been skunked in those areas so YMMV.

I'm busy this weekend as it's my 10 year wedding anniversary. Good luck and please post your report.

^^ so my friends are planning renting the kayaks from kayak connection and you mentioned west cliff, paddle wise would that take long of a paddle? Would it be closer if I paddle to black point area and jig whatever fish is there?(I'm basing everything on google maps)

Spontaneous plan(crazy idea) I wanna join the friends and be able to fish at same time even tho all I got are rod reel and couple lures..

It's about a 30 minute paddle from the harbor to the lighthouse. Is this your first time in the ocean on a kayak?
