I was thinking of putting some foam ultra grip drawer liner inside my trident 13.  The inside is a very very very slick surface and I'm thinking that by adding the foam it will help keep my gear and whatnot from sliding around inside and ending up in the rear where I can't get to it.  Has anyone used this stuff for this purpose or is there something better out there for a marine application?

Zack,

I've never used it but I know guys who have and like it:

Good luck!

Just saw you meant for the inside...

What I have done for important items I want to be able to access at all times (bilge pump, emergency kit/licence) is lashed them to one of the scupper columns with some bungee...then tucked them between the scupper column and the outside of the hull...

Even if they move I can always reach the scupper column and bungee and pull them back to me...

Never had a huge problem with my guns/fins/weightbelt/floatlines etc moving out of reach....

Course...now that I've said that I'm sure it will happen.

I use a piece of styrofoam wedged under the seat. This leaves a channel on each side to slide longer items like spearguns but it stops anything from accidentally sliding to the rear.

I haven't tried this with fishing rods. I know it will work but it may be slightly more difficult to stow or retrieve on the water.

Haha, not too worried about the bigger stuff like that.  I was thinking more about small stuff like ab bars, gauges, etc.  Knowing my luck I'd go to get something and it's 10ft from where I put it lol.

The foam block under the seat may not be a bad idea as well.

Yes I use a piece about a foot wide and maybe 2 fee long, just inside my OB's center hatch.  It easily sticks to the hull, and things don't slide off it easily.  I lost the piece I used to use for a few months, then while prepping for the O'Neil forbay F&C Back in Feb. I found it rolled up in a darn cooler!  It now resides in my "Kayak tote"

If it's for small stuff, it can still slide where it's inconvenient even with the foam block. When I load the kayak I have a big gear bag. I set up the kayak and leave a spare mask, license and stuf I probably won't need in the bag and shove it in first. Then the stuff like irons and gauges in a small goody bag. Mask, light and fragile suff in a separate small goody bag. Guns go along the sides in the channels I mentioned earlier, and last in are the fins.

Once you land or on  the water if it's calm enough you can repack the gear in the little bags. Now when you land and everyone comes to see what you have, hand them a bag of gear to carry.

It seemed to work pretty well.  I put a large piece up front forward of my battery box for all of my small stuff like ab irons, gauges, lights, etc and then I put a long piece to the rear of my battery box all the way back about a foot past the seat for my rods and spearguns to sit on.  I used some 3M high strength 90 spray adhesive and it seems pretty solid.  Supposedly this spray is water resistant but we'll find out.

Nice!  I have used this material inside my old Ocean Kayak T15 center hatch, which I've sold.   I'm curious as to how your adhesive will hold, as for me, marine goop did the trick.  I loved how things wouldn't roll or slide around anymore after that install.

I used to use it to keep my seat from sliding around.  Maybe I'll put some inside the hull as well ;)

Once glued it could be bitch to clean if fish blood, guts and "parts" get in there....

Similar to yoga mat that I used. Very good grip, closed cell foam, cheap, cleans easy and very light. I have used yoga mat material to line my kayak hull to keep things for sliding, it works great. I didn't need to glue as it's tacky and stays in place and lays flat.

This is an excellent idea
I currently have a tackle box wedged in the rear because it slipped back there last trip.
Going to install some of this tomorrow.

Yea, that spray adhesive is a no go lol.  With the hot sun hitting the yak, by the time I got to my destination it was already detaching.  Heat apparently remelts the adhesive resulting in a sticky mess.  Gonna have to go with the marine sealant idea lol.
