Looking to get a truck bed cover that either rolls up or folds into sections.  Preferably sturdy and more secure than not.  I would like to be able to store fishing and diving gear in bed and be able to run into a store or restaurant without always having to eyeball it the whole time.  Needs to not be in the way of the fifth wheel hitch while towing and not taking up bed space when not.  So many choices.  I know if someone wants in they will get in but just want to buy myself a little more time.  Some look cheap and some look like overkill.  Anyone with specific experience please share.  Thanks,  by the way I have a short bed Chevy 2500HD.

I have a Truck Covers USA cover.  The rolling cover is aluminum.  It's not water tight, but it's close.  I get small trickles into the bed.  I love it, but it was expensive.

I've had two other hard, flip covers.  One was a BakFlip, the other was some other brand.  I don't recommend the BakFlip.  I used it less than 2 years and my wife had a catastrophic failure on the freeway... the rear most panel tore off and went flying.  Thankfully, the freeway was empty and no one was killed.  She circled back and couldn't locate the panel which must've flown off the roadway.  The rubber which connects the panels had begun to deteriorate, which caused the failure.  BakFlip never answered my emails or calls.  The other brand was built similar to the BakFlip, but I sold that truck, so I don't know how it held up.

I'm a big fan of the rolling covers.

Yeah that looks like what I wanted.  Need to check my portable dump station to see if it will fit under it when I am towing my fifth wheel.

I also have a Truck Covers USA rolling tonneau cover. When opened, the storage for the cover takes up almost 12 inches of the bed. I had a lock installed.

The only thing I did not like about the cover was adhesive cloth weatherstripping that keeps water out of the bed. On a very hot day (high 90's), the adhesive gave way and the weatherstripping began to drop off partially or completely. I had to crawl into the bed while the cover was closed to pull the strips off completely...in order to prevent the strips from ending up in the storage box. Replacing the weatherstripping would have cost $50 plus labor, but I declined since it would probably happen again on a hot day.

The cover has served me well as long as I remember to cover up any tools in the bed from being exposed to water and rusting. I paid $1500 plus tax for it several years ago.

So I went to the closest shop listed as a rep for the first one listed and they said they never heard of it.  They had to look it up on the computer and say oh wow that looks cool and it's smaller than what we sell.  Apparently they signed up as a dealer when they went to a trade show and forgot. Then they call them and ask what's the MSRP on it. Not what's their price and estimated install time.  Just straight to the max price.  2k not including $150 shipping charge from so cal.  Thats just ridiculous.  Seems like something I could figure out but how do I bypass the dealer and order direct.
