Snuck out at first light to get some much needed water therapy, and to sweat out some of the beer and food and beer from being back home in New Orleans recently.

Stopped to check a crack I know and lo and behold there was a nice Ling in there looking right at me.

 :smt003

Lined up the shot to place my shaft right between her eyes but I actually just grazed her skull and she took off back into the crack and I pulled out an empty shaft.  :smt013 :smt009

I say it was the surge or the Ling sunk down a bit right before I pulled trigger...fuzz says I just "BigJimed" it.  :smt012 :smt044

Reloaded and headed back down and she was still there cruising around inside the crack and I placed a quick shot right through one gill plate and out the other.

Have started using a reel recently and she took off and wrapped the reel line around a few rocks but after 3 more drops I got her out.

Beautiful meaty 32 incher.  :smt003

Posted a pic on FB, and then headed to the next stop and anchored offshore about 100 yards well away from the waves crashing on the wash rocks.

Worked my way into about the 40/35 foot zone and right then got that awful feeling deep in my bowels... :smt010

Tried to ignore it but it refused to be ignored...sprinted back to my Kraken, jumped in, took off weight belt and undid beaver tail of my Pathos wetsuit top and pulled down the high-waist bottoms of the suit and did the necessary right into the transducer scupper hole in the middle of the yak.  :smt003

Took a little bit of paddling in a circle on anchor to get the proper suction and water movement to get it all through the hole but eventually got it all washed away...

Pretty nasty I know, but much better than the alternative of having to do "a Nelson" inside a 7mm Freedive suit.

Thank you JK for placing that scupper hole right in the middle in front of the seat!!  :smt004

After I was done I put the weight belt back on, and jumped back in and took a 20 inch Cab and a 16 inch blue before heading back in.

Stopped on the way back in to say hi to Matt Lopez and Kriz Cortez and their FII class.

Only three fish taken but not bad for a 3 hour meat run.

Back at beach got to chill and chat with MeatHunter and his bro Adam from 831Tackle...always good to see those guys!

Ate the cab whole in tacos last night and will do up the Ling filets tonight.

 :smt006

Sincerely,

Jim

nothing fun about that- it happened to me out at Channel Islands, what the friend I was with calls a "water dookie". But you put some good fish in the box, nice work!

My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

best comment ever :)

The scenario described above is the main benefit to having a high waisted bottom instead of a farmer john

Awesome and a good lesson.  Hope never to have to do that.  And if I do you all will never know unless you were there.
