Just a heads up.  Big 5, dicks, and west marine do not carry heavy leader.  And that Amazon link says it ships in 1-2 months.  Looks like my only option is to truck out to Sam Jose.

bring your reel down to mel cotton's and have mike spool 100# line on.  he usually works sun-thurs though.  the other guys won't know what to do with it.  :smt044

Glen,

Would it be "legal" for me to crimp some 400# line to Maya's kayak and let her drag a big salmon belly  on a 2lb ball around?

That's technically still handlining.

as long as you use the kayak to wrap the line around and she does it by hand...... then it falls within the guidelines of "handlining"...

Question
Are we judging "biggest fin creature" by length or weight? Also any provisions for catch and release. Not trying to start a debate just thought we could clear it up before we start. Will gladly go by whatever you decide

Right on. With the location change I'll try to either come fish for hali's or bring the kids to hang out.  :smt001

Not gonna make it. Taking the kids to Great America on Saturday for our last summer hoo-rah. Have fun, y'all!

Money sent. Will pick up Handreel at the ramp. Looks like I'll be winding before paddling.

See everyone there.

Since most folks will be incline to C&R sharks or rays to be weighed, doing it by length of fish (widest point, ie: head to tail on most species, wingtip to wingtip on rays) would be more ideal; just have a picture along side the kayak with 'good reference points to get a better measurement when back on land...

Got your P-pal....

but not sure what you consider as "winding"? Weather forecast looks GREAT!
