Got tired of just throwing stuff in my truck and being disorganized ..had some left over PVC and indoor/outdoor carpet.. a rattle can of black spray paint....I wanted to make a storage system , but did not want the added weight so....here`s some pic`s from the first phase...BTW the PVC is not glued so I tweak it in and out of the bed a lot easier...

2nd phase  :trim and old rubber mat to the bed size .trim and cut some indoor /outdoor to the bed size ..put some foam insulation on the PVC to reduce friction for the plywood ..more to come

Great idea!  I'm just curious what are you going to be putting on the topside?  How much weight do you think it could handle?

FWIW...going to rip some 1/2 plywood into two sections w/glue and carpet,  so it`s easier to remove or so I can access one side or the other , as far as payload..I used some 1-1/4" sch.40 PVC....I weight in about 215# I climbed  on the plywood with it on the ground and it was pretty stable... probably  sleeping platform w/pad....I also plan on storage boxes under it ..

That's awesome!  PVC is amazingly strong.  That's why I was wondering.

After you install the plywood you'll have enough room for two DOTY female prizes underneath  :smt005

one of the most graceful PVC contraptions I've seen. Kudos. Usually they look pretty thrown together; I like this.

Very nice project, since I have a similar truck, gives me ideas.

You sound really experienced but just a note, I've found that if you're looking for relatively thin plywood that will lay flat and rigid without the tendency to arch or warp OSB is a good option.

Just an all around cool idea there.

Thanks all ..plus it was fun ,and not that expensive

@ Dale ...already ripped the 1/2" ply ....Duh on me ... didn't even think OSB... :smt012

The only reason I thought of it was that I just finished a renovation project at home where I had to use something as temporary flooring over bare joists, I bought 7/16 OSB cause it was cheap, at the end of the job I had some sheets of OSB and sheets of plywood laying around, the plywood was wanting to arch and twist whereas the osb was still flat as a board  :smt002
