Looking forward to meeting the community.

I am from Florida, have been fishing there out of a Kayak for many years. Very interested to learning the nuances of fishing out on the West coast, specifically surf launches.

I have a Native Ultimate, not sure its the best platform for out here. Definitely looking to see what works best for big water.

Not sure if anyone is guiding but if you are, please let me know I would love to get out with you!

Welcome to the west coast and NCKA !! My Niece and Nephew live in Florida and he just started kayak fishing, are there any groups like this he can join? I can't wait to go visit them, he was catching Red fish.

Welcome.  I would think an ultimate would not be a great fit for our style of fishing (if you choose to fish the bay/ocean).  We get a lot of water over the sides of our boats through chop and swell, which could swamp an ultimate fairly quickly.  I'd look into a scuppered boat if you want to get outside of the flatwater here.  But the ultimate would be great on our lakes and rivers.

Which ultimate model do you have?

Welcome to the madness (west coast style).

If you're looking for a guide in the Santa Cruz vicinity, send a PM to Bushy (real name, Allen Bushnell).
Are you pondering what I’m pondering?

Welcome- lots of good times to be had out here, though it's a colder rougher ocean here for sure. Good luck, stay safe!
