footwear over dry suit socks?

I have drypants and been using Crocs. My life is not the same without them.

my neo booties were too snug with drysuit.  i tried crocs and never looked back.  they are slowly replacing my flip-flops for everyday use.  lol.

I use wetsuit booties.  and my drysuit has the 'sand guard' or gravelguard with velcro.

I should add that I have some issues with the bottoms of my feet, so before the drysuit, I always wore shoes for pedaling (either water shoes---Astral Brewer's, which were great until I lost them in an epic wipeout---or just regular old shoes). On rough launch/landings, I'd wear neoprene booties, and then switch over to shoes once OTW. I might still do something that, but it's a hassle.

Yup I have 2 pairs bought at Gilroy Outlet 14.99. 1 pair for house use and the other for Kayaking.

I really like my NRS workboots. Bought them in 2012. But they are bulky/heavy and often retain water. For me, they're versatile because I also use them over waders while river fishing.
Lately I've been using the Astral Brewer water shoes (that Mel graciously hooked me up with, thanks again!). I've only used them about 5 times and  not in the ocean/cold water. But I think these will be my new go-to shoes in the Hobie.

Yes, those are fantastic. I just ordered a new pair and hope they'll fit over the drysocks.

Whatever you choose, just try to make sure you don't end up with sand between your dry socks and whatever you wear over them. It'll wear out your fabric in a hurry (or so I've read).

I'd be worried about that with crocs, but it doesn't seem like anyone here has had that problem.

Yes, keeping the sand out was the motivation for the original post. Especially on a Hobie, it would seem to me that the socks will be shredded quickly if any sand gets in there.

I wonder if you couldn't put a layer of shoe goo or something similar on the soles of the socks to give them a bit more abrasion protection.

If you're worried about abrading your dry socks, wear a thin pair of polypro socks over the dry socks to protect the dry socks.

What size shoes do you wear and what size shoes did you order?

When I measure them, my feet are 10.5, but I always wear size 13. Now I'm just used to loose fitting shoes that I can't stand anything tighter. So, I order the largest size they have of the Brewers, at 13. Drysuit comes Monday, so I'll see how it works...
