Hi guys,
My son is looking for a place to rent in the Oroville area, and I thought there might be some leads here between my NCKA bro's and sisters!

He was living with his great-grandfather and helping him with his care - they called themselves the "two bachelors", haha.
Grampa, who was 91, sadly passed-away in January. My son isn't able to stay in the house on a long-term basis because of the estate/trust. He is an extremely responsible young man, and mature for his age - he works for Oroville PD and is almost done with his degree in criminal justice at Chico State. He is also into kayak fishing and has participated here and there with NCKA - I'd like to get him his own kayak as a graduation present.

He is looking for a one-two bedroom place, preferably a house where he can keep his older Labrador (she is kennel trained). We are finding that it's tough to find places in decent areas, and he would probably be one of the best tenants someone could hope to have.

If you know of someone who might have a place to rent or a lead on a place, please PM me! Sometimes the best homes are found by word-of-mouth!

Huge thanks,
-Cherie

I'm sorry I don't have any leads for you, but I do want to say that  Oroville is a naturally beautiful area and with some luck he should be able to find an awesome place. Be be proud of your son working for the police department to help a little town with more than it share of problems. In a place like Oraville word-of-mouth is  definitely the way to find what you want. Asking here is smart you might also want to try service organizations and churches. I'm  sure there is someone out there with the place they would love to rent to a responsible young man like your son.

I've been keeping an ear out but haven't heard of anything in the area yet.  He might have better luck expanding his search to Paradise or Chico.  I would think the renter market in Oroville could be flooded.

His dog is most definitely limiting his options.

I know -  so many people don't want dogs, even good ones that are kennel trained.  His lab, "Cabela", is here with us near Lodi, but she is getting older and I am worried that he's going to miss out on spending time with his dog before she passes on. He loves her so much, and I know it would break his heart. But, the reality is that she can stay here with us. It would just be cool if he COULD have her close.

Thanks! Yes, if you hear of anything, let us know. There were a ton in Oroville recently, but only for the lineman college students. I don't know if Chico would be idea with all the students (and probably over-priced) but Paradise isn't too far.

Thank you! Oroville even has an Applebee's, haha, and is getting a Starbucks in the new shopping center! Moving up, haha.
Great idea about the service organizations - I will have him check into those as well. He is asking his buddies at OPD about possible places, and just trying to get the word out.

I am very proud of him - he's a great person and has drive and vision. He's approachable yet firm and kind when needed, which makes his career choice a good one. Oroville definitely has it's share of problems and he sees the potential in the community - he wants it to become a better place and is invested there, so I think that is why he wants to continue living there if possible.
