I myself actually call it lisbon. I and friends have some awesome spots along it. Or we did anyways! Those days are over though and its prably for the better honestly. My point though it lisbon is the slang term for the slough not the literal name of it. So for fish n wildlife to use the incorrect grammar in the law is just straight up retarded. They need to fix the new law with the actual name of that body of water. Until then it will hold no water in court if someone did fish there and got ticketed. Thats all.

You sure about that?  I think the regulation is pretty dang clear, and I wouldn't want to put it to the test.

Can you drive all the way to the end of Prospect Slough? It looks like you can.

I have been told you can access from the wildlife area, but not sure. Now the bypass should be flooding, so I doubt it.

I did a search for Toe Drain map and found one that shows Prospect Slough ending and the Toe Drain beginning near where Liberty Cut meets Prospect Slough.

Also, Google earth shows every slough around Liberty Island is called Prospect. The stair steps, the long slough up the middle, part of the island, and more. I have no faith in the Google earth map at this point.

The wording  in the regs:

SPECIAL YOLO BYPASS FLOOD CONTROL SYSTEM STURGEON CLOSURE. IT IS UNLAWFUL TO TAKE ANY STURGEON IN THE YOLO BYPASS, TOE DRAIN CANAL, AND TULE CANAL UPSTREAM OF LISBON WEIR AT ANY TIME.

Weird wording and comma use.  The notice of proposed action (http://www.fgc.ca.gov/regulations/2015/1_05ntc.pdf) was to close the yolo bypass entirely and the toe drain and tule canals above Lisbon Weir.  The was it ended up worded is ambiguous, and coud either mean

a) "upstream of lisbon" weir modifies all of the listed bodies of water, or
b)"upstream of lisbon weir" modifies only the tule canal, so that yolo bypass and toe drain are both closed to sturgeon fishin in their entirety.

I don't think either one was intended.  They want to close the yolo bypass entirely and the canals above lisbon weir so that it is now illegal to take sturgeon that are basically trapped by receding floodwaters between lisbon weir and fremont weir in the yolo bypass system.  That makes sense to me.

Back in my delta exploring days in the early 2000s, when computer directions were still a relatively new thing, I printed out directions from my house in W. Sac to the Grand Island Hotel.  When I got to the end of the directions, the note said "You are now 0.6 miles from your destination, use local roads to get to your final destination".  Obviously I was on the other side of steamboat slough with zero way to get across...

I'm pretty sure some of those early mistakes were never ever fixed in the navigation data.

Agreed. They should drop the commas. Then it makes sense. Between the weirs was my interpretation too.

Also of very special note is the giant DFW shoutout to Traildad on page 4 of the notice of proposed actions that I linked.  You got their attention Ken, well done buddy.  That's kinda awesome.
