clearly all of us need to go diving! thanks for the post, just noticed April 1 is a Friday, bet after all these rough swell weeks, there are going to be herds of us taking a three day weekend, swell or no swell! Can't wait! good luck to you all, dive safe and keep an eye out for your brothers and sisters out in the briny deep. Be awesome to have a zero fatality year this season!

Stuff can always happen in the ocean, conditions can go bad in a blink.

IMO, the best (simplest)  thing to limit fatalities in Ab diving is being willing to just not go in. You arrive at the beach, the swell is like a Maytag. Don't Go In.

Always be willing to stay out of the water. If you dive with a partner (and you should!) be clear that if either one is not liking the conditions, they can issue a "No-Go" and it's cool.

good suggestion, thanks! - I think rather than derailing this original post, I should start a separate one.

we went to outdoor world today and the same guy that told me i could use 2 poles for rock fish (mind you I never asked -he just offered this) also yelled from another Isle he was stocking " only 12 abs this year"

The ab question is easy as it comes with instructions and '18' slots

but its funny how stuff gets passed around-and if someone did not follow up or dbl check the info--ZAPPO

anywas we got our ab tags and are very excited--going to ad a special road trip to our plans  just for abs- as well as the north of S.F derbies we attend that can have a dive day alongside
We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.

I want to stay as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all kinds of things you can't see from the center.
