looking for a large good quality gear bag that fits fins(may have to strap those outer side) 70mm size spearguns---strong enough to have weight belt--and big enough to ad gear for a single person to fully gear up for a dive..imagine it has a shoulder strap or even two to wear like back pack...looking for something I can walk down a trail and be ready to gear up

I saw some huge ones at the cross dress for less in pacifica last year--did not buy one and knew at the time I was gonna regret it.
cant find XXXL Long gym type nylon dive bags...

what have folks here bought
Thanks

tried the search function first btw

42" long -huge bag--great reviews and cheap---want one that can take all my stuff camping and not have to mess around digging through my other 3 med/large gear up bags..also can take just enough for a hike dive

I have the Omer Tekno bag I got from Diver Dan's in San Jose.  I like it alot.  It's about 1"-2" too short to fit my fins comfortably, but I have BIG foot pockets.  The bag is designed to hold freedive fins, so they should fit most.  It also has a couple straps on the outside for spearguns.

I CAN fit everything inside, but usually leave my weight belt and fins out, just because it's easier.  Also, it's large enough to fit everything including my backplate/wing BC, regs, and scuba fins, belt, wetsuit, etc when I go south for lobster on tanks.

It also has straps to carry like a backpack, which is REALLY convenient.

Hey, I'll just float a contrary idea by you: A few years ago, I did the herniated disc thing at work and that prompted me to completely rethink the dive bag idea. Probably like everyone, I've used duffle bags, oversized dive bags, etc. But the problem with them, is they tempt you to keep everything you own, like three old pairs of gloves, spare stuff for your kids, etc, etc, plus they aren't designed to transfer the load to your hips.
So I bought a nice actual backpacking backpack on sale at REI (a Baltoro 75 by Gregory Packs). It totally rocks for getting me organized and especially at getting the load on my hips and the back snug against my back with the internal frame. The one downside is the zippers are aluminum- so I have to wash them carefully and operated them after every dive. Also I haven't really solved the long fin issue- I usually carry them, although I'm thinking of attaching an external mesh bag just for them.
A good friend of mine uses a simple pack frame, and just bungie cords his duffle onto that. But putting his on versus mine, I would totally pick mine for wearing up and down the bluffs.
Good luck, hope you find something, dive safe!

so I likethat idea and I have banks board yet to set up or try out--has the backpack straps

but a simple large backpack or old school campers back pack might be the ticket

I carry my kayak down this one spot first and would then do a gear carry or rope the duffle over in some spots too

I'll think more about the backpack-others said same thing btw

i want the XXXL duffle for my road trip kayak/camping van mostly--wifes set up/my set up/loaner set up...all in one and suit s and fins stacked near by etc..found my gym size.airline duffle fills up too quick and bends masks etc..am gonna get one like softball coaches used ...huge

Woah, the Baltoro 75 is like the Cadillac of backpacks.  Are you only using it for dive gear?

It's so heavy that it seems like dive gear would be the perfect application for it.  Wilderness rock and ice climbing too.  SOmething that rugged that can take a whole lot of weight seems well suited for dive gear, guns, tanks, weight belts, etc.  Its overkill for typical long weekend backpacking trips.  Also, the 75 is designed for someone pretty big, so antoher reason for craig to buy it.

If you aren't offended by the sticker price, go for it.

Yeah, my Baltoro is just for dive gear- if only it big oversized nylon zippers. I keep meaning to write to the company and telling them I love their product for spearfishing and please go salt resistant with zippers. Maybe this will remind me. But the zippers are still working I just have wash and operate them for sure.
Occasionally I've checked out (like picked up, or carried a short distance) other bags or gear carriers guys I dive with are using and come away pretty happy with a quality backpack. The quality waistband load transfer makes a huge difference.

i have that mares cruise bag. i dont think it ever came with a shoulder strap. the two straps it has are big enough to slide one arm through as a shoulder strap (for me at least). i never put my weight belt in it considering its mostly mesh and the lead weights can start tears in the truck bed. heavy weight belts in long mesh bags can make it awkward to carry. like a bowling ball in a garbage bag. it sags/stretches and puts to much stress in the mesh.
   sand goes through mesh...
i still dig it a lot though. its light, and the mesh lets the gear dry out in the truck bed a little so you dont get that ocean swamp funk when closed up. or if you want to dunk wash everything at once in a hotel/motel bathtub. :smt009
its big enough for everything. but i would get something more rugged like that omer bag pictured if your cliff/trail hiking to the water. or dont want sand all over your sedan

This bag is kinda bad ass, I put my weights,gun(70or90), float line... All kinds of shit. I even put fish in there for the hike out.
Just spray with water or  soak it in solution bath.
