Hole plugging...

What's the best way to plug a ~1" round hole left over from a FF cable pass through?

When I installed my FF a couple years ago I arranged it so the cable sticks out of the top in the gunwale. Bad idea - it's hard to keep the power/'ducer plug from getting bashed up when I load and unload the yak. I think all the plug actually got damaged to the point that it's causing some signal (and power) issues.

Plan is to buy a new Elite 5 and install it with the cable pass through in a better spot. Just need to plug the hole...

What about using the Hobie version of that? One of the options is a blank plug. It is made for a 1 inch hole. comes with plug, o-ring, and backing screw.

Silicone

Flexable Marine Epoxy.......it comes in a two part syringe for easy mixing. West Marine carries it.  you may need some mesh backing also. 

I would use weather proof stainless steel knock out seal. Add some silicone to the bottom. Like this one but this isn't stainless.

They make the snap in type as well if you cant access the back.

That stainless knockout plug idea is really slick. I think I'll swing by Grainger later and check some out.

I also like the Hobie fitting idea. I looked on the West Marine site to see if they offered a "blank" version of the fitting I've got, but it doesn't look like they do. Hadn't considered the Hobie version...

And yes, there's always good ol' GOOP...

Im pretty sure they make them in plastic as well.

I'll probably just spring for the stainless. (Perfectionist....)

leave the existing plug in there and silicon any holes it has. The hard plug would be durable and already fits the hole you made.

Duct Tape

Not much you can't fix with duct tape and bailing wire...

You could always weld up the holes. Amazon has the plastic welding rod in different colors. Where did you get the fittings in the pic?
