Spent 2 hrs looking for the "gang" of perch all up and down the beach, got to the south end and wham and a good pull but it got off in 5 seconds, that was no perch, feel my heart going faster and the next cast was fish on, not as big as the first hit, but landed a nice little striper, on inch shy of legal, lucky little striper, would have loved to eat him.
Spent the next hour trying for his big brother but no more. All I brought was grubs and an 8 lb test sedona set up, next time its 20 braid on a baitcaster and some lures as well. Just in case...

looks like some nice weather there.

what happens if you get a big striper on the 8lb test? snapped or spooled? no chance?

seems like that would be super fun anyway trying to land a good striper on the perch gear.

Stripers in the surf on light tackle is a blast! I landed a 7 pounder last June on a 2" MORF grub.I thought I had a world record barred perch when it started taking out drag  :smt003
