Now you're talkin fellas, all hail the mothership! Did you consider adding a rack to your boat to carry the kayaks above you, BC style?

I think we've got a spare Yakima rack down in the basement- I know i've got at least one extra set of yak mounts for it...if you need them, they're yours

I think the Grady White looks better with a yellow Prowler 15  :smt003 ....that Wasabi Green Scupper Pro really looks out of place  :smt002

Alan - thanks for the Dinner and the Wine  :smt023 What are we having tonight?  :smt003

i bought a set of yakima hullraisers that will not work.  they're for sale if anyone is interested.  scott used to be a machinist and he's going to have to start from scratch.  i want to be able to load up 4 yaks on the boat, two on each side.

J - we were looking into installing some "J" racks through the (2) flush mounts but Alan came up with a better idea of using a couple of small slightly bent "T" racks instead. I think Scott can explain it better. The T racks will be raised a little higher so Alan still has room for both of his downriggers. Once we complete the mount, Alan had another great idea of putting some foam padding on top of the first kayak so we can tie down another kayak on top of it. The Grady will then be able to hold 4 yaks - 2 on each side :smt007 We will keep everyone posted with the Project.

Now if we can only convince Art and Chris / Cpyak to do the same with their boats  :smt003

Hey swellrider,  I recognize that boat.  Doesn't it come down to Bodega Bay in the summer.  Hmmm ... I wonder if they'd charter a kayak fishing mothership trip?

I need no convincing, the fish do. They did not co-operate with my work schedule/range limits last year.  The fishing vessel KillBox will score this year.

Now that's a sweet mothership swellrider.

I'm prett sure that the antennas on Alan's boat would interfere with a rack setup like that. And with the setup we'll be using, the racks will be completely removeable within moments.

Regards,
Scott

Alan and Joel,

I'm going to try and get in touch with you via phone and PM as well, but I'm planning on stopping by tonight for a few minutes to do some mockup with PVC. With a bit more time to think about the setup, I realized that we don't want the full weight of up to two boats bearing on the indexing pin inside the rod holders. So we'll have to come up with some kind of collar.

Regards,
Scott
