I'm looking to get out on the water this coming Wednesday or Thursday.  Thinking to go to Berryessa for Trout and Bass.  Weather looks good.  I've never fished Berryessa, but looking to fish around Big Island.

Looking for Company.

It's a bit of a drive for me with work in the afternoon, but I'm keeping an eye on this thread! You planning to leave out of oak shores I assume? The concrete path there gets you pretty close to the water, and the walk isn't too steep.

Oak shores is correct.  I expect to be there by 7:30.  Channel 69.  Probably off the water by 1:00

Well... I woke up late and since I have no confirmed hookups at Berryessa, I'm headed to lake Sonoma since it is closer and water I already know.

How'd you do at Sonoma? Sorry I couldn't confirm, weekdays are hard because it depends on how late I get off of work!

I went to the office on my way to the lake and never left!  The beauty of being self employed is you can take a random day off...but the job is also NEVER done!  Going to try again tomorrow since everything is still in the truck!

LoL I've done the same thing more than a few times - only never got the fully loaded car out of the driveway :smt044
It's OK, the fish will still be there :smt001

Since the truck is already loaded and the rods are rigged I think I'll plan to hit Berryessa tomorrow.  8:00 AM at Oak Shores if anyone wants to meet up.

Interested in hearing your report.  I'm planning to head to Berryessa on Saturday for the maiden voyage of my first yak (Kraken 13.5)

I made it out today!  Arrived at Oak Shores about 8:30 and was on the water sometime after 9:00.  The morning was beautiful, partly cloudy with the sun just peaking though, and the water was like glass.

I saw lots of fish and bait on the FF but couldn't catch any.  I tried trolling with a deep six planer and a needle fish spoon, I tried drop shot, and spinner baits.  Ultimately, I got one hit in the morning on an orange and green rooster tail, and the as I was coming into the beach to go home caught a small mouth on the same lure!  The Smalley was caught while trolling the spinner unweighted in 6' of water.  The water temperature was 52 degrees, could the bass be moving up to spawn already?

In any case a great 4 or 5 hours on the water!

I also had some personal realizations today...1. I'm an undisciplined fisherman, who fishes to get out on the water mostly.   2.  I started fishing again after a 10 year hiatus, as a means to gain some solitude, but after three years of fishing mostly alone, I don't like the "aloneness" anymore.  Fishing with other people is much more fun.  3. Catching even one fish seems to justify all the time spent and the 1.5 hr drive (amazing).  4.  Fishing in the ocean particularly for rockfish seems to take much less brain work and a lot less gear!

Ok enough of that!  Here's some pics!

Oak Shores had Stained water.  About 3' visibility.  However at the south end of the lake it was like chocolate milk.

Nice ! Glad to see that you made it out there. How far was it from the end kf the cement walkway/ramp at Oak Shores to the shoreline ?
