Has anyone upgraded their carrying handles on their Hobie.  There has been a few time were I needed help carrying it to a launch area and the T handle with rope is a little awkward.  I was interested in a handle with two screws and preferable back plate for sturdiness.

Suggestions welcome.

go to hardware store and get 5/8in inside diameter clear plastic high pressure water hose. slide a piece of 1in nylon webbing through a 6-7in piece of hose then fold to double the ends of the webbing. Heat the tip of a phillips screwdriver with a torch and poke holes in the doubled ends of the webbing and bolt or rivet through those holes.

I'm getting ready to add a couple of Hobie's H rails to my Revolution16. I plan on using these to help carry the kayak as well as adding new adjustable rod holder locations. Maybe some other accessory holders too.

I thought there were carry handles on the sides of the Revo 16, just like the Adventure (which I have).
I don't like stuff that sucks.

Yes there is one on each side but when carrying the boat I find myself needing both hands due to the weight & length.
Currently there's nothing else to get a really good grip on besides the existing handle. Once I get the H-Rail's installed I'll have a second handle on each side. Plan on mounting these behind the seat & will post pics once I get them on next week.

Yeah the handles next to seat area are sturdy and strong but was looking for similar durable handle for front and back when not feasible to use side handles.

I may just keep doing what I am as I don't use the front and back handles that often.

I am sure Jacks method will work but pretty sure I don't want to screw on garden hose to my Hobie.

Duane, It is not garden hose. It is the same handle that i put on the absnatcher dive board that Bigjim uses. It is super tough and actually looks really cool. If you bring your boat down here, I will do it for you.

Thanks for the offer Jack.  Here is a pic of what I was seeing on other kayaks and thought might work.

Those work great. Don't know what they cost but it looks like they even come with the rivets. Get to work.

I posted a DIY handle like you describe years ago.
Let me see if I can dig it up.

This is the only site I found that sells oem hobie handles.

http://www.southwindkayaks.com/products/side-carry-handle-tdm-island

These are way more sturdier than those universal ones.

Damn pricey buy way worth it.

Tote, that is exactly what i was describing. Thanks for posting that link. It is a little different than just screwing a piece of garden hose to your kayak Duane.
