NCKA Friends and Family - Events/Attractions Admissions Share

Thought it might be a good time to get this thread set up somewhat formally.

If you have memberships/admissions that you'd like to offer to the community, post up here.

2 Guest passes for Monterey Bay Aquarium - membership expires in May 2019.  Pick up in Livermore/Pleasanton or SF.  I can mail to you as well, just mail it back when you're done!

 I have a Sonoma county regional parks pass and will carpool with interested bros and sisters on Saturdays to fish at the aforementioned.  The usual expectation that you possess safety gear and can self rescue applies. Sunday and weekday looanouts are a possibility.

The only problem I have with the Monterey Bay Aquarium is "They make me leave my rods and reels in the car".  How inconsiderate.

When I worked in SF, had family passes to all the touristy stuff.  Now, just Mbay Aq and Filoli. 

Filoli is a must see.  also highly recommend egg salad sandwich at the Cafe.

Might b buying a season pass for Winchester Mystery House.  Never been, but if the lil guy enjoys it, will pull the trigger (pun intended).  We spend enuff time at Santana Row, might as well just cross the street...

During the week i can get passes to the Exploratorium in SF.  You have to stop by Pier 9 with me, Let me know a day in advance.

update, my passes now expire 5/2019 thanks to my little brother paying for a new membership.

We plan on taking our grandson to MB Aquarium on Thursday June 16th.  If anyone has guest passes they would not mind sharing let us know.  Probably someone between Morgan Hill and Monterey as we are taking our 5ft wheel to Morgan Hill and can't divert to far off course. 

Not a big deal if no one closer has them but thought I would ask.  $130 for two adults and one child.  Prices sure have gone up.  Haven't been there in years but unless fishing my attention span is limited so will probably only stay for a couple hours anyways. 

crazy I just looked up the price for MB Aquarium, 50 bucks for adult!! yikes when did that go up. I haven't gone in years since 2007 lol

Yes, its sickening.  Whenever I go I shouldertap 2 sorriest looking young adults from general admission line and walk them through membership entrance for free.  $100 is meaningful cheddr to alotta ppl, me included.

Tourism tax

Last time my wife and I went to the MB Aquarium, compliments of Big Verm Thanks again, we got the strangest looks from everyone. Finally at lunch i asked my wife do we just look like we don't belong here or something, when a very nice older lady said you have fishing tournament shirts on, LOL!!! that's what we always wear GS shirts, Albion, Rock fish wars, NCKA !!!! Go figure. After a good chuckle with her, we didn't feel so out of place knowing why everyone was looking at us !!!!

That's so funny you mentioned that. I brought some fish killing shirts and a "gut fish" hat.  My wife said no way.  I guess it's better than being stared at the whole time. 

No one closer to Monterey mentioned having guest tickets so full price it is. Heading there in the morning. 

We just went to gilroy gardens and ended up with season passes.  Unfortunately it only allows an entry for one guest on Fridays and main tickets are tied to our pictures so can't loan them out.  We got through many of the attractions today but plan on going back Friday and letting our grandson play in the water park area.  Ages 3 and up is $45 so if anyone wants free entry for 2 this Friday we can get you in and save you $90.  Really fun place for small kids.  36" tall gets them on most rides and if not alone can go with adult.  I think 46" is the magic number for a couple bigger rides.
