Hi everybody my name is Ryan and I wanted to give the DOTY a whirl this year. Been diving for about three years now and I've had a kayak for a little over a year now. Can't wait for conditions to improve so we can get out there! Cheers

Where do you guys get your hog troughs or measuring devices? I was thinking of making something, but I'm not sure how official it has to be

consider an aluminum bump board longer than 30 (30 marked 31 overall).  the plastic one just didn't live very long for me, and it is a pain to measure lings that go over 31

I just got one off ebay, and it is a folder.  I don't know yet if that was a good idea.  I didn't spring for this one:

Adam or others could ID it . . . .

here's one:

I use the regular 31 inch plastic Hawg Trough out on kayak and for fish 31 inches and under:

http://doty.norcalkayakanglers.com/catches/1986

And I have a long metal one that I got at Petaluma Sport and Dive that I keep in my car and use for fish over 31....

A yard stick extension or two hawg troughs back to back also work if you don't have a long metal one:

Hope that helps!
