I'm looking to get out on the water on Sunday in the North Bay.  Stripers, Surf Perch, largemouth...I don't care, but would like to have company.  Kind of itching to try the Napa or Petaluma Rivers for Stripers as they are new target for me, but the tides don't look like they are cooperating!  Lake Sonoma, Clear Lake, Berryessa, Delta...

All in all I'm a novice, as i spent most of my life fishing for trout, but in the past few years have begun Bass fishing and ocean fishing for rockfish.

Thanks

I'd like to get out Sunday, I'm also a novice and spend most of my time in the sloughs in Suisun. I've never gone for trout so was thinking of hitting Rancho Seco or Berryessa, but hopefully some more folks will join in with some suggestions! Like you, I just want to fish!

Berryessa has been providing some surprisingly good winter bass right now. Watch the weather though, it looks like a wet and windy one.

I have seen conflicting weather reports...I'm OK with wet, but wet and windy sucks!   I was also thinking about Mendocino.

I also ran into a guy at Lake Sonoma last week that caught six bass in a couple of hours off the dam....

I'm game for berryessa, but have never fished it before.

I haven't fished Berryessa either, so I have no idea where the fish are. I guess there are some good spots up in the narrows, and you could probably stay mostly out of the wind by hiding behind the shore. If you left out of Markley Cove I guess theres a rock pile out by the dam that is supposed to hold some fish. Like I said though I've never fished it, and if I remember correctly the wakeboard boat claimed that was some pretty deep water. I could join you Sunday, but plans have changed and I won't be able to get out of the house until 8 am or so.

Alpinex, I'm game for berryessa, but I have to be back in Petaluma by 4:00.  What time do you think you could be at the lake?  By reading past reports our best bet is probably launching from Markley Cove.  There's plenty of options for bass, but we might also be able to troll for some trout closer to the dam.

I'm also game to meet you on your home waters if that works better.  Any stipers there?

The weather does look like rain, but not super windy.

Well that's no good! We'll try another weekend, I wouldn't be able to get to the lake until 9 or so anyway.

Not for me.  Maybe Wednesday or Thursday if I can get caught up at work.

Rather than launching at Markley cove for $ and a longer paddle, put in at the old boat launch.  Just one steep spot to traverse right at the start, then it's an old semi paved road to the water.  It's a 5 min hike down with my float tube, 15 minutes back up  :smt012  It's at least worth a look before driving all the way to Markely Cove.

About 1/2 mile past the dam on the right hand side of the road is a wide pullout just before a locked gate.  Behind the gate is the access point.  I'd link it for you via google earth if I could figure out how to do it  :smt013

The lake has turned over and trout/salmon should be towards the top.  As a kid, we always used minnows under a bobber but I've caught some nice fish with small shad type crank baits as well.  I know peeps do well drop shotting for bass in the winter but I never had much luck with it.
