Looking to do some bank fishing with the family in the delta but not sure where to go. Can anyone advise public access  locations for bank fishing? Preferably within an hour of Livermore. Thanks!

Lot of good spots, just be careful anywhere near my home town of Stockton :smt003

Eight-mile road has a bunch of spots, map it and see.

Antioch Pier is worth considering. My kids always liked fishing the Sac side of Sherman Island levee road.

Check out Sandy Beach campground in Rio Vista. Day use and overnight. Nice place. Clean, bbq's, and clean bathrooms. Big flat area out from the beach. Weedy, but there are fish there.  Throw out some anchovies, and you'll  get something.  Kids can build sand castles too! It's on the west side of the river, so the wind isn't terrible most of the time.

I used to go there all the time to a few different spots just north of Tracy. I'll see if I can street name. I'm sure "Turn eft at the third bridge" won't help. lol

Go downtown and head west on 2nd. Follow the signs.
Take the family to Foster's for dinner after! They might get a kick out of all the taxidermied critters in there!

Here's one.

Final destination is W Klein Rd.

From 205 go north on Tracy BLVD.
Travel several miles
Turn left on Clifton Court Rd.
Turn right on Calpack Rd.
It'll take you right up to the levee and Klein Rd.
Just follow that around until you find a spot.

It's all farmland out there.

I haven't been there in years. Get there early to get a spot.

There's actually a couple spots there where you can launch a kayak.

There's a fish hatchery out there too we used to go to.

Another place is Middle River, just off of Byron Hwy. You can fist on either side.

From 205 Take Bryon Hwy, again north.
Turn right on LindermanRd

There will be a bridge just before you get to Herdlyn Rd.
On the south side you can park on the left right befor the gate and walk down that road and pick a spot.
You'll have to walk down on rocks.

Fpr the north side you can can either park by the gate or...

Turn Left on Herdlyn Rd.

Follow that a ways down until just before the river turns left, there should be a small pond on the left.
Park on that big gravel area on your left.
Follow the little trail up to the levee.
There will be some sort of structure(pump) that sticks out in the river. Then just go left until you find a spot.
Walk down rocks.

PS...

Both of the above spots have both striper and cats.

Good luck!

Or have the kiddies go into complete shock when they see all those dead critters.

I remember going there for drinks after fishing once and was a little disturbed by all the game that the guy killed.

He even had a little monkey stuffed  :smt013

What the fuck did that little monkey do to get shot  :smt009

Yah, it can be a bit much if you're not prepared. The original owner hunted from the 30's through the 60's or 70's, so some of the animals are on the threatened or endangered list now. The bull elephant is freaking awesome! They had to make fiberglass tusks for the mount because the Ivory was too heavy. They have got to be 6 or 7 feet long. There's a picture of the African porters hacking one up with axes on the wall across from the bar. Kinda gross, but whatever... it's small and you can't see it unless you look for it. My favorite is the tiny owl in the knot hole behind the bar. I think that dude shot just about everything he came across!  Foster's Big Horn on Main St.
