I received a really cool gift from my best friend living on the east coast. He knows I am building out my kayak rig and sent me a new Shimano Thunnus CI4 4000. I want to be able to utilize this reel on my kayak for a live bait rod but being the Noob that i am, i don't want to go out and just buy any pole for this reel and I am not versed in saltwater live bait applications.  Hoping the collective brain trust here could help with some suggestions on what you use for live bait rods on your rigs?

Thanks,

Nice reel! I use Shimano Baitrunner reels with Trevala 7' ML rods for trolling salmon and jigging for RCG.

That's a sweet reel  :smt007  I'd take it to your local shop and try it out on a selection of rods.  I like my Shimano Terramar's for live bait fishing, and light swimbaits.

How much are you trying to spend?start with that then everyone can narrow it down for you.but more then likely you'll get the shimano trevala in med,med light will be the number one response.
As for me the trevala line up is a little heavy for my liking.i use bass rods(graphite, graphite composite) rods.my ideal live bait rod would be a 7,7'-6" med crank bait rod.i don't like my rods too limp most of the guys here do[emoji12]

I want to stay under $250 for a pole.  It deserves a nice stick. I personally like the fight and bend of the rod, I don't find it to be to much fun when you can just muscle a fish in.  Thanks in advance for the recommendations.
