I was checking the swell report for Sac....glass

It was a great ending of the season for me and im sure for many who went out and limit on fish today.

It was glass.  Perfect conditions.  Clouds rolled in around 11, light wind but it was still nice.  Many blacks were tossed back (fish).

Nice meeting you Antonio.

Launched with bpowa at about 730. Fish mostly in the cove before the point.  Had one of my best days fishing ever.  Bagged a 23"ling, three cabezon (23" P.B., 20" and 16") and a bunch of assorted rockfish. Threw back a bunch of blacks (fish), and small ling. and pretty much limited out on rf including a smallie i had on my hook for ling bait, but got nothing toward the end of the day. Wish i had more lings for the freezer but i cant ask for too much. Ended the day at about 1230.  Great way to end the season.  Its going to be a very long 4 months.

On the drive to SWS Lucas and I discussed safety scenarios, rescue and fishing techniques that we had previously practiced. We also talked about how we were going to try and catch a fish but that it wasn't a guarantee that we would. I explained to him that it was more about bonding and making memories that would last a lifetime.

After getting the yak and gear on the beach it was time to suit up. I had a bit of a goof up when helping  Lucas don his one piece wet suit. After getting one leg on I was having a heck of a time squeezing his second leg in. This went on for about a minute even lubed up it wouldn't fit. Then I realized I was shoving his second leg into one of the sleeves. We both simultaneously busted out in laughter  :smt044 :smt044 and that's when Lucas exclaimed " this is one of those memories that we will never forget".  That brought smiles to both of our faces.   :smt003

I put a reverse facing seat in the tank well of my Trident 15 that works surprisingly well for a kid.  We finally shoved off and paddled out a bit. It wasn't long before Lucas hooked up on his first kayak fish a 14 inch grassy.  Since we were sitting back to back I couldn't see him but could here his screams of excitement. I reminded him not to get too excited or we would end up in the water.  :fishing1

The bite was pretty hot and it wasn't long before Lucas was reeling up fish like a seasoned pro. The only problem was there was this furbag that kept trying to steal our fish. We even went for a furbag sleigh ride for about 5 mins that Lucas absolutely loved.  :smt007

After a while we had to move spots to avoid additional interactions with him but I guess he figured we were his meal ticket and continued to follow us.

After two hours of excellent conditions and consistent action Lucas said he was done so we headed back in.  When we got back home I dropped off the cooler of fish at the in-laws and my father in-law graciously cleaned and cooked our catch for dinner.

Now that's the way to end a day of fishing with my boy.  :smt003

Highlights

Lucas' wetsuit goof up.
Lucas' first kayak fish.
Our furbag sleigh ride.
Seeing all my NCKA and NCUH bros.
Having a father in-law with a fish cleaning station in his yard.
Lucas eating his grassy for dinner.
Making memories with my boy to last a lifetime .  :smt008
