Gifted Fish for Christmas

Never thought about gifting fish for Christmas until today. 

My wife was talking to one of her friends and her father has been ill.  He has a long history of fishing, has been on fishing boats and charters for longer than I have been alive.  He was always the guys that would get out on the water as much as he could and when he was unable to continue it really hit him hard.  ( I get this)

I often gift fish to elderly or folks who may have less of a chance of having fresh fish for whatever reason.  I never thought to ask a lifetime fisherman if he wanted fish because I was sure all those fishing buddies he has had over the years would keep him well stocked.  Apparently not many have been there or brought him fish like I assumed was happening.  His daughter told my wife that certain fish is the only thing he can keep down and that he did not have any at home. 

We cleaned out our freezer and my wife brought him a big bag of fish and abalone and offered it to him.  I wanted to go but I am in some serious pain today and have to limit my movement so I can get through tonight and tomorrow's activities.  My wife said he was so appreciative and thought that was one of the best gifts ever.  I felt so bad the weather has sucked and couldn't offer some fresh fish.  I have another grateful and appreciative person on my list of folks to bring fresh fish to after my future adventures. 

I pass on fish all the time but love going out.  If anyone knows of someone else who would truly appreciate such a gift throughout the year and is within a reasonable distance from Ft Bragg/Mendocino please let me know and I will help when I can.

That's awesome.  I hope my grandkids grow up wanting to do stuff for us.  Not sure I want fish for breakfast so we are making Belgium waffles. 

Wife wants bananas on hers and I have to have whipped cream.

What? better than trout? 

My wife bought blueberries for the eyes, strawberries for the hat and bananas for the beard.  Except my hat, beard and eyes will all be whipped cream.
