Recently, the famed SF Chronicle outdoors writer Paul McHugh republished a series that he wrote for the paper on his kayaking trip from the North Coast all the way south to through the Golden Gate.  Its titled 400 Miles in 40 days.

The first installment describes his insertion in a relatively unknown river just south of Oregon border, in the beloved North Coast region.  He'll publish in its entirety, eventually.

The quality of the writing is good, and you get jealous reading of the adventure.  Can't read the entire thing in one sitting so save it to iBooks in PDF and read it at your leisure.

Free book, happy holidays.

cool!
he was part of the BASK group that taught me how to kayak. McHugh, Barnes, Lull, etc
Years later I guided him on a little fishing trip from the harbor.
Nice guy, and what a trip.
