If you have ANY specific questions, I can help in answering most questions pertaining to the Lowrance line of units; operation, unit selection, installation, wiring, transducer selection/install, etc...

Sounds good on paper (land)...what about OTW?  :smt044
Yeah, they work OTW too ... I HAVE been on the water more than you are made aware of this year for special product testing

I have a Raymarine that works well, but it doesn't have a GPS. I think anyone getting a new fish finder should include that option. It makes you safer, and helps you find fish again!

If you are fishing on the salt get a unit with GPS. At the very least, it is for safety, however, marking GPS spots and following your tracks is super important to
getting on the fish.

I have always been a lowrance guy so I'm sure I'll stick with that. Just got to pick a model and I am leaning towards a 7". I knew busting balls in the "middle of the day on hump day" would get some responses🐟👍🏻

You can spend as little or as much as you want on a FF, so I'd start with your price range and then look at the options that you have in there.  No one is going to say "this is hands down the only FF to use on a kayak". But they all do the same thing, help you know A) Depth, B) Structure, C) Fish.   But weather or not you need color, HD imaging, GPS, etc they are either price regulated or personal preference.  Hell some people use ones that cost as much as a kayak, designed for boats, and that look like they are watching HDTV screen.   :smt044

It's just another tool in the search of fish/structure.  Glad to help if you have questions along the way.

I just had to say it...

I can almost promise I will be back on here in a few weeks asking for the names of parts to make a quick connector to and from the battery  :smt011.  I have looked at lots of examples on line and thus far I am seeing this:

-inline fuse for ff to battery
-box
-something that connects to the black and red wires that looks like a plug (I don't know what this is called)
-The other half of this pluglike item.

I feel as if I might be ontrack lol

XT60 hands down the best. Put a bit of die-electric inside. This plug can carry serious current without melting. It has a solid fit.
I soldered the female side to FF power cable, and male side to the battery.

go cheap......go blk&wht......they all see the same thing = structure, bait and fish.

v below is a baitball,,,,,with a couple of fish breaking into the ball. I have had this on my yak for 9yrs. It has done its job many of time.
It is a Eagle Fish ez 240......it cost under $100 w/batt. There are many out there, but this one has been BOMB PROOF!

+1 here mine is 8 years old and seen a lot of salt with no problems...BoMB pRoOF.

Consider a separate GPS so when batteries go dead you don't lose both.
