My name is David, I like long walks on the beach and cuddles.... Oh crap wrong forum

I'm a long time angler first time kayaker.  I just moved to Santa Rosa a few months ago.  Was looking to get a bass boat but a buddy of mine talked me into trying his kayak first and I really enjoyed it and its a lot cheaper then a bass boat :)  I'm excited to get started.

Welcome!

I spent a lot of time in Tallahassee when I lived back in FL.

Thanks! I lived there for 15 years before getting transferred out here for work.

It was great because I knew the area so well for hunting and fishing.  I'm slowly learning this area for fishing but haven't figured out hunting yet.  Cant make heads or tails of the rules :)

Once my Yak is in I'm going to have to meet up with some people to "show me the ropes" out here.

Yes, the fishing/hunting rules here are sometimes ludicrous.  FL has so few, in comparison.

Welcome aboard.

Don't try the ocean until you get the right gear. You can get away with shorts on some lakes but not a good idea out here on the coast.  I am sure you are used to warmer water.

Thanks guys for the warm welcome, I'm feeling the love.

Plan on starting with local lakes/ponds before I try anything bigger.  So no ocean for right now. I have a lot to learn before I head down that road. Going to borrow my buddies yak tomorrow and head over to lake Hennessey and give it a try.

Well had atrip out on a kayak yesterday and caught my first yak fish :). Ended up with 6 for the Day at lake Hennessy.  4 tiny ones, 3.1lb, 4.6lb.  Last one I didn't weight as it self released at the boat, but looked about 3.5-4lb. good day of fishing esp seeing how three people I talked to at the ramp turning it in for the day didn't catch anything. Did take me awhile to find out what the fish wanted but once I did it was game on.
