Smartwool top and bottom, I think the 250 series, for hot to moderate weather.

For cold weather, I bought a fleece pullover and fleece pants for cheap from Sierra Trading Post to wear over the SmartWool.

It's been working out well so far.

I used compression pants most of the time. Active Apparel has some nice ones and pretty good price.

Most of mine are REI light & mid weight synthetic base layers. I like lightweights so I can layer and peel them off if needed. I tend to burn up in the dry suit.

Going a little warmer, I have pants (not sure if wool or mix) and a Merino wool shirt from Triple Aught but only 'cause they were on sale and their HQ is downstairs from work.
HIGH quality stuff tho. http://store.tripleaughtdesign.com/Apparel/Base-Layers

what do most of you guys wear out there?  either dry pants or dry shirt?

Just been fishing since june and the board shorts are getting a little burly, was out 11/28 @ 7:00 am and it was a bit nippily out!

don't want to wear the wetsuit, but trying to think if pants or shirt would be better...

I cannot unsee that.  :smt107 :smt107

I have 2 tops. I used semi dry top mostly on warm weather, drytops when its chilly, I only used tempest pants. I really like the C9 active apparel layers. Both top and bottom, the price are very nice too.

For winter I finally got a fleece union suit....Kokatat under my paddle suit. No gaps, no cold spots, no bunch g it's like heaven.

Wife hates it when I just where the fleece suit around the house. So that's a bonus.

I am not happy with Columbia Omni-Heat. I got a top and bottom on sale on a Black Friday sale.  Next time I will put a polartec layer on top.  I used a single layer of Columbia Omni-Heat underneath my Kokatat Tempest Jacket and pants last Sunday at Shadow Cliff. I was cold the whole day.

Most of the time I use REI polar tech top and bottom. On especially cold days I have a set of mysterioso. The mysterioso socks I bought have a seam that runs down the center of the foot. Completely idiotic. Walking on a seam sucks, so I have a nice thick pair of smart wool socks that do the trick.

Mid-weight Smartwool top and pants for me under my Kokatat Angler suit. It does get a little stuffy in there on long, hot days of trolling, but I feel better knowing I won't freeze if the sh*t hits the fan.

Merino wool under fleece. Amount of layers decided by temps. Two pairs of socks with hand warmers between them on top of my feet.
