Day 2 - Non Yak/Cal Report

Friday, January 19 2007. The day after the Burbot trip we snowmobiled into the High Uintah Wilderness (Utah) for some ice fishing. We started at the Sheep Creek Trailhead.



The air temp was about 30 degrees and quite balmy compared to the 30 below in town. It was a beautiful mountain setting about 9,000 feet up.



I know most of you don't know me. My friend Allen and I came out from Utah and fished the Elk Tournament. Maybe you recognize my picture from the tourny?.



Everybody caught a lot of fish. I started with a big fat male brook trout.



We managed to get a slam with Brook Trout, Colorado Cutthroat,



and Rainbow Trout

We probably caught a hundred trout and all fish were released. The biggest were a couple of 2 1/2 pound brookies.Thanks for your patience. I promise to post a yak trip as soon as it gets above 32 degrees and the ice melts. On a side note, I yakfished La Jolla on Christmas Day for a variety of rockfish and a visit from a momma and baby Gray Whale that just wouldn't leave. Very cool. Later

Your making me home sick! I lived in Anchorage, AK for eight years and did a lot of ice fishing, snow mobling, snow boarding,ect.. Great Pic's keep them coming.

Allen and I both hope to make the cut for Elk this year. The Elk tournament was by far the highlight of my angling year. I would really love to show up a couple days early and get to fish and visit more next time. I'm already putting new ling gear together. Look forward to seeing everyone again.
