Hi. I am trying to narrow down to a rod that I can comfortably cast and retrieve mainly bigger top water lures like the dwb(delta wood bomber) & huds from my kayak. Any input would be gratefully appreciated.

Your gonna have to get a custom made rod or just use a standard swimbait rod.i have the zillion 7'4" I use this cause the handle and overall length is not too long for small spaces
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

Phenix MX-UR80MH

Specs are as follows:
8'0"   10-25   Fast   1/2 - 3oz

Does better running the B52s and Sinister 6. You can't really get the proper action on a sinister 5 unless you run mono (fast tip). Running a sin 5 I'd go with a 8-17lb rod 7 feet or better.

Bobby's perfect frog rod by Falcon rods. Went on a trip with him and used this rod for top water lures. Check out his video on youtube and see what you think.

my friend has a 7' heavy action. I might try his to see the action then. It's a solid heavy tip rod

i did think about using those jigging rods too. Light. Used it for ling/rock jigging. Will have to borrow one to try.

Powell Max 3D 755 CB Glass/Composite.  This has been the perfect rod for a variety of application use.  Because it's a forgiving rod it's easier to precisely cast with the DWB Sister 5.  With this rod I use shallow to some medium crank bait along with vertical jigging for Salmon and Striper.  Lastly, I enjoy fan casting 5-6 inch fish traps on 1/2 oz to 3/4 oz jig heads for stripers.  Also worth checking out is Max 3D 7115 CB G/C Mod-Fast Medium Heavy which is good for lures up to 2 oz.  Anything heavier is going to require a swimbait specific rod.

My heaviest kayak rods are 7' medium heavy. I run 40# braided. Any longer gets to be a pain.

I use a shimano Clarus and an Abu veritas for my dwb. Action is great on them and the price is low

I agree with G-Whiz. Bought a Shimano Trevala TVC-70ML last year and it's the best kayak fishing pole I have. Light and super strong and with a light bait casting reel, it is one light fishing rig. The 7' length is really perfect for a kayak, long enough that you can move the line easily around the front of your kayak. For $119.00 plus tax, a real winner!!!
At Albion 2015, I hauled some big Vermilions from 120' deep with this rig!!!

I have both the trevala M and ML.

Dont let the ML (light) fool you. it will pull up lings no problem. You cant really go wrong witht eh M or ML. I like them both but prefer the ML because its 7' vs 6.6" (M).

So I use the M for trolling and ML for general jigging and casting.  Both have low profile reels.

Im not sure how well it would do for topwater casting and reel.  You may be better off with a claurus.

So, I have a line on Skeet Reese rods. Not the ones you can buy. These are his tournament rods (personal) they run $55.00 each and are awesome. No warrentee and he has used them. (Some boat rash) I can tell you where they are or get one for you. they are specifically designed for dif lures etc.... Let me know and I can check what he dropped off for sale. Ron
Normal SR rods sell for 78-150. ea but, they are NOT the same...

my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!
